Hi my name is Alexis Rios. I am currently going to school to become a Special Education teacher and work at an after school program during the year for the YMCA and SDUSD. I have worked with kids my entire life and it is my passion to help them thrive and learn. I would love to help kids receive all the opportunities I did growing up. |
Ashley Ong is currently an Emergency Medical Technician and avid CPR instructor. Ashley has also worked as an instructional aide for the Southbay school district where his enthusiasm for teaching others has come out in spades. His passion for helping others smile is what brought Ashley's love of magic as a child come to help him on the ambulance making his patient's smile as well. Ashley has also become a balloon sculpture and has found a great outlet for his imagination. |

With the advent of the new millennium, Ellyn decided to expand her highly successful recycling career and become an actor. Ellyn joined up with Arimaw Productions early on as a jilted bride, french chef and other outrageous roles, conjured up by Michael Wulffhart for various organizations. Since then, she has created shows for Arimaw Productions, directed theater in schools, and developed performance based environmental science classes. Favorite traditional theater credits include Sound of Music(Frau Schmidt/Nun at the Lawrence Welk Resort), Wizard of Oz (Glinda/Auntie Em at Kit Carson Park), ensemble acting with the Mystery Café and San Diego Actor’s Theater, and playing Edith Piaf in a two person show at the wacky Theatrx theater in Escondido. Now she spends her part of the year touring the country with her partner John Berthe as a two-person bubble show, The Bubble Show. The remainder of their time is spent in Mexico gardening, or consulting on various projects to increase recycling. |
Jennipher Lewis has a BA in Theater from UCLA. She is a credentialed Teacher with the San Diego Unified School District, where she teaches Theater at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (Magnet school for the arts). My name is Melissa Kitchen. I am a teacher for Arimaw. I have been working here for over three years teaching children all over the San Diego area the amazing classes we offer. Being a wife and mother of two boys I value every aspect of a child's development and learning process. Arimaw allows me to make a positive impact and add value to our children's learning experience.
I am a San Diego native who went to Grossmont High School and Cuyamaca College. I worked as a teacher's assistant for the American Sign Language department at Cuyamaca. I have been working with children for over ten years.
Personally I like cooking and discovering new recipes. I absolutely LOVE spending time with my family. Reading is my passion. I am just one big kid. I feel very grateful for all that I have been given in life and want to make sure every child has as many happy memories as I do of his or her learning experiences when with Arimaw. |

Growing up in San Diego, California, "Wild" Wes Mason frequented the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld. As an adult, he spent several years working for the education departments of both parks. Today, as a singer and songwriter, he's combined his love of music with his passion for conservation. The result is fun-filled, entertaining music that teaches kids and their families about wildlife and conservation.
"Most importantly, I create music that people really enjoy," Wes explains. He writes music in a variety of styles, including rock, country, blues, folk, and even reggae. "The message is important, and the only way people are going to hear it is if they enjoy listening to the songs.
"You'll find no campy nursery rhymes in my music. My stuff is intelligent and fun. Sure, my primary target audience is kids, but I want adults to like the music, too."
Just watch a live Wild Wes performance. Wes engages his audience, and gives them plenty of opportunity to interact through singing, movement, and even animal sounds. That includes the adults, too. In fact, one of Wes's favorite show elements involves bringing five unsuspecting adult volunteers on stage during "The Vertebrate Classification Song." It's one of the kids' favorite parts of the show as well. To describe any more here would spoil the surprise!
In addition to live stage performances, Wild Wes has just released his first CD, Save the World. It features ten toe-tapping original tunes, produced by Jake Kovach, and is sure to become a hit.
When not on stage or in the recording studio, Wes enjoys spending time outdoors. Fortunately, his hometown of San Diego affords plentiful opportunity to do so. One of his favorite places to go hiking is Torrey Pines State Reserve, next door to his alma mater, University of California, San Diego. Also close by is La Jolla Cove, one of the most picturesque spots in California. Some of Wes's favorite memories are of kayaking and snorkeling in the cove amongst dozens of leopard sharks - which was almost as cool as cage diving off the coast of southern California with mako and blue sharks. What a thrill! |
